Gold Coast Development Rush Set to Continue with Proposal of ‘Wanderlust’ Towers in Surfers Paradise.

It’s a great day on the Gold Coast for people who love the laid-back beach lifestyle, yet struggle to find work in the area.

With the proposed ‘Wanderlust’ development in the works for Surfers Paradise, construction employees can expect a better job market for their skills once the plans come off paper and start moving ahead.

Three Levels of Opportunity for Gold Coast Residents

With three podium levels of entertainment and leisure offerings, as well as hotel and residential space, Sydney-based development giant EG Funds Management plan to attract visitors, business travellers, and permanent residents to the GC with its twin-towered complex. Seventy-one storeys in one tower combined with 55 in the other to create living space for 770 households, 270 short-term stay apartments and 400 hotel rooms. Just next door to the GC light rail with the beach within shouting distance, the location looks to be the perfect one for their target clientele.

Currently the home to the Paradise Centre, the Forum, and a string of nightclubs, the site itself has a history in the entertainment industry and the developers plan to ride the location’s coattails to create the new travellers’ paradise. Architects Elenberg Fraser have planned for the centrepiece of the complex, the Wanderlust Pool Club, to fill its three levels with a wide variety of entertainment choices:

  • First podium level: The main part of the pool club, this level will offer two large pools, several small sunken pools, private cabanas and Jacuzzi rooms, as well as a dance floor and three bars. The main portion of the pool club will adjoin a Vegas-style nightclub that will offer top-name entertainment nightly.
  • Second podium level: A diverse selection of bars and restaurants will give customers the luxury of choice while they gaze out into the city’s streets and indulge themselves in the Gold Coast lifestyle.
  • Third podium level: The towers’ permanent residents can pamper themselves in comfort with a suite of amenities the builders plan to locate on this level. Amenities will include fitness studios, pool and snooker rooms, private dining rooms, a rock climbing wall, an outdoor gym, an outdoor cinema, sun lounges, lawn space, and a private residents-only pool.

The Gold Coast’s Employment Prospects Continue to Rise

The developers envision a future in which this complex will transform the Gold Coast into the premier entertainment destination for the entire south-eastern region of Asia.

Whether or not they realise that vision, one thing does seem likely, combined with the billions of dollars pouring into the GC for the upcoming Commonwealth Games, the development of the Wanderlust Towers will continue to provide a welcome influx of job opportunities for the construction industry on the Coast.
