On Sunday September 17th, 72 volunteers made their way over to Green Island, located in Brisbane’s Moreton Bay, for Ocean Crusaders – Green Island Clean Up.

Green Island has a reputation for being visited by more debris than people and the results of the day speak for themselves with an outstanding 660kg of debris removed from the island.

Below is a summary of the rubbish collected on the day that was taken for recycling or landfill –

  • 263 plastic bags
  • 182 plastic bottles

  • 500m+ of rope/string
  • 622 glass bottles
  • 60 pieces of netting
  • 47 thongs
  • 1 yacht rudder or dagger board

We are very proud to have been able to support such a great initiative to help clean up our backyard and protect our wildlife!
